The rare Melipona bee

It all began with a wonderful treasure of nature that we found years ago on our Sierradentro farm – beehives! We preserved the bees’ habitat and now maintain them as a key natural component of our land.

And this is their story

It started when we were looking for the best environment and location to plant teak, and we bought the Sierradentro farmland in Córdoba.

We soon discovered a rare and unique treasure – natural hives of the Melipona bee – a bee we soon found out, that was credited locally with many health benefits.

In line with our approach to biodiversity we quickly decided that the bees were there to stay.

We called on a local bee expert who helped us to adapt the beehives to the plantation so that we could maintain the ecologic integrity of the land while also allowing us to start planting and see our teak plants and the bees flourish together.

The best honey quality there is

Now in the expert care of our beekeeper, the Melipona bees are tended to with the highest standards to ensure their well-being. Honey production is now a reality, and we are proud to say that we have 27 hives of different bee species on the Sierradentro farm.
